Congratulations Steven Rockarts!

Congratulations go out to Steven Rockarts as he is a deserving receipt of the Microsoft MVP Award. I met Steven through the Edmonton .NET User Group and have seen him as the backbone to many of the other good things that have changed the community landscape for Edmonton developers in recent years, including being the driving force behind such events as the Edmonton Code Camp, that I was fortunate enough to be invited to speak at. The Edmonton .NET User Group and its directoral team, including Donald Belcham, Justice Gray, Steven Rockarts, Steve Yang, and Brad Daoust have really put Edmonton on the map, getting Microsoft to start hosting more of their events here. It certainly beats having to make the lenghty drive to Calgary to get the goods.

Congratulations again Steven!

  1. Hey Jason,

Sorry to mislead you a bit, but I was just joking around with D’Arcy. I really didn’t get an MVP, we were just messing with all the people who post about their MVP status. But in response to your post, I think there community deserves a lot more credit than any of us. If it weren’t for the awesome turnout and dedication of the community EDMUG would just be 5 guys hanging out by themselves and talking about .NET

  2. It would actually just be 4 guys hanging around talking about .NET.  I don’t think there would be enough people to dilute Justice to make it palatable for me 😉

  3. Ah man… well… Me == Too easy to trick. I wouldn’t be surprised to see an MVP coming from Edmonton. There seems to have been a lot more notice of the things that have been happening in Alberta with James Kovacs being granted the award. All I said about the good things you have done for the community here in Edmonton still stand, even after the ruse.
