ASP.NET Membership Providers Problem

When I first started using membership providers on NoticeablyDifferent, I experienced the following error:

An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server.  When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 – Error Locating Server/Instance Specified)

I fixed that problem many moons ago, but Scott Guthrie just published an article entitled, Common Gotcha: Don’t forget to <clear /> when adding providers that really brought me back to this really irritating to solve issue.

As a side note, if you haven’t already subscribed to his blog; do it. My personal opinion is that he offers up more goldent nuggets per post than any other blogger I have come across. And he posts frequently as well!
